About TABACHIN

Hotel Tabachin is a Puerto Escondido all time classic. Opening its doors in the early 90’s, Tabachin has hosted a wide variety of personalities ranging from artists and writers such as Isabel Allende, to surfing world champion Kelly Slater.

Tabachin became well known thanks to Paul Cleaver who was the founder. His eccentric, artistic taste made him famous, as did his memorable breakfast gatherings that often ended in abundant laughter and generous thought sharing mainly of a literary and philosophical nature. After his passing away in 2012, Tabachin went through a much needed restoration and remodeling process. Despite the facelift, the hotel maintains its all iconic tile facade and new aesthetic details have been added to enhanced its novel-esque charm. A swimming pool, garden, reading area, open air kitchen and an incredible rooftop palapa with, arguably, the best view over Zicatela and Marinero bay have been added to the variety of amenities offered to our clients.

Every apartment has Wifi, A/C, cable TV and kitchen. Top level apartments have ocean view terraces or balcony. Breakfast service is offered during December, January and February with Tabachin’s original staff and menu, as requested by our long time returning snow bird customers.

Located at the north end of Zicatela beach, Tabachin has an incredible location that allows guests to walk along the Marinero bay and into town, as well as down Zicatela’s main street to multiple restaurants and bars. Amazingly, it has still maintained a certain seclusion, offering a greatly appreciated, peaceful and quiet night’s rest.
